In 1966 Richard Milliman founded Imprint Editions in Chicago, Illinois. The initial goal was to concentrate on art in the workplace. Once this was achieved, the rest became a function of his professional approach by close attention to the small details that make or break a successful installation.
1979 saw Robert Smith join Imprint Editions as a partner to increase corporate awareness in other parts of the country. In 1985 a decision was made to break into two separate businesses, Richard Millliman Fine Art (RMFA) and Robert Smith Fine Art (RSFA). Although separate, they continue to work together complimenting each other.
For the past twenty plus years, Robert Smith Fine Art (RSFA), operating out of North Carolina, has been assembling a quality portfolio of national and international limited edition prints and original works on paper and canvas specifically oriented toward the corporate and healthcare markets across the United States.
However, having prints alone is not enough to satisfy the needs of today's corporations. When you consider the full range of artwork, from posters costing a few dollars to original pieces costing thousands, then you begin to understand the magnitude of what the RSFA collection has to offer.
Again, having the art could only achieve partial success. The true significance of our expertise is in the actual selection, framing and installation into the finished space. We call this Art Integration. Simply defined, we consider the artworks a fundamental component of the whole design process, not something applied as an afterthought or mindless decoration.
As a consequence, we work directly with corporations and/or their architects and designers. Our consulting services normally begin at the blue print stage so that we can understand the designer's color palate, the drama of the space with its intended accent areas, and the initial lighting proposals. This ensures that the finally placed pieces will have the impact and lighting quality they justly deserve.
Art is a special component in the overall spectrum of creating space. It needs to be thought about at an early stage in the creative process, budgeted accordingly and controlled from thereon so that in the final analysis you can proudly say it was all worthwhile.
